This member of the mint family is native to the Mediterranean; however, it has also been cultivated in western Asia, north Africa, and other northern countries where it is considered an annual. This aromatic herb has a sweet yet sharp flavor that is similar to thyme or oregano with a delicate citrus-esque flavor. It has been proven to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties as well as contain antioxidants. It can also be used to help treat digestive issues, infections, and women ailments.
