Jalapeno is one of the least spicy of the hot peppers, ranking only 8,000 to 30,000 on the Scoville heat scale. It is named after the town of Jalapa or Xalapa, in the Mexican state of Veracruz, where it originated. Thanks to its worldwide fame, it has become a favorite ingredient in cuisines around the world. As a powder, this is easy to add to any recipe that would improve with a little zip.
