Ginger is the rhizome of a tropic plant native to China, but is widely used in Asian, Indian, Oriental and European cuisines. Its name is derived from a word for “horn root,” referring to its appearance. It has a slightly sweet, peppery flavor with notes of lemon and rosemary. It is known to have several health benefits, including balancing metabolism, nausea and morning sickness, muscle pain and soreness, and many others.
