Setting Your Table for Valentines

January can be an odd month for people when it comes to their home decor. Do you wanna leave the fun Christmas things up and enjoy the ambiance a little longer, or do you wanna take it all down and start fresh for the New Year? Well for this months home decor table setting with Mikasa, we’re gonna do a little bit of it all.

Sometimes putting it all away can be a little sad, but as someone who is a minimalist at heart I get overwhelmed with all of the extra decor sometimes. I usually fall into that grey area of doing a little bit of both, and this table setting is no exception. We keep the fun festive reds, but those reds also play into the fact that we’re looking ahead at inspo for setting your table for Valentines.

I switched out the usual clear mason jar for a clear pitcher, you can keep the same container you’ve been using for all your centerpieces if it’s also something neutral. I decided to throw in some cute red heart garland into the jar, keeping the colors still in the realm of reds but adding in that touch of Valentines.

Using the same red salt and pepper mills as December, all I added here was a small candle to add a romantic ambiance to the table, and if you’re curious, the candle is a rose and leather scent and we do carry it here in the store.

Here is where the real shocker is gonna come, I switched out the usual white Mikasa coffee mug, for a white XOXO Valentine mug with a heart handle from Mud Pie. Gasp- I know. It still matches the rest of the set but adds such a subtle decor that I couldn’t resist. You can very easily use the rest of the Mikasa mugs when you’re setting your table for dinner and just switch a few out for some valentines mugs that I feel like we all own just to add a subtle fun piece into the setting.

Lastly, I added the mudpie “Choc it to me” bowl, and I filled it with the sour cherry jam and an adorable cherry spreader that's less than $6. You might wonder what sour cherry has to do with chocolate, but if you attended our Christmas open house we gave out a recipe sheet that has the recipe for the chocolate cherry yogurt trifle, and that sounds like the perfect little dessert to include in a bucket list of desserts to try this February.

All the whites keep this setting neutral, but the added red keeps the fun atmosphere we see around the holidays while also getting ready for the next event to decorate for.

I hope you found inspiration in this table setting, and go out and make your own homes something you love to look at and something you love to dine around.

Till Next Month,
