Mikasa: Table Setting Series February

Setting Your Table for St. Patricks

January has come and gone, did that feel fast to anyone else?

I hope you enjoyed last months table setting focusing in on Valentines, but once again we’re going to look ahead and see what inspiration we can provide for St. Patricks day if you celebrate more than others or even if it’s just a fun excuse to pinch your neighbor (guilty as charged).

The base of this table setting is of course the white bone China from Mikasa.

But this month, I wanted to throw in another really fun concept that has a serious following of its own already. As you can see we went pretty simple, no intense center piece or a bunch of extra little knick knacks. Instead, we wanted to showcase how Nora Fleming can also be a great way to dress up your home for the different seasons as a relatively low cost and minimal effort. We still used the same gold flatware that shines wonderfully and honestly makes you think of a little pot o’ gold at the end of a rainbow as legend has it.

Sitting on top of the plates is a fun little Swedish Dishcloth that has a St. Patty's design. If you haven’t heard of Swedish Dishcloths, they’re a highly absorbent, reusable version of a paper towel. They come in so many fun designs, less than $7 compared to whatever the price of quality paper towel, and better yet they’re able to be put in the washer up to 60 times being reused however many times in that time period. And once it’s time to throw it out, the cloth is completely decomposable making it a more eco friendly option to traditional paper towels.

Following that line of sight up, you’ll see a cute ceramic piece that would easily accommodate dips, candies, or whatever else you may want to put out for guests. And sitting on top of it is an adorable pot of gold. This is a Nora Fleming piece. The whole concept behind Nora Fleming is purchasing one or two main serveware pieces, and each piece has a little hole in it that perfectly fits her decorative minis into them.

If you pivot your eyes right you’ll notice the tray holding the napkins is also a Nora Fleming piece with a little rainbow atop it. These beautiful bases with interchangeable minis easily added and finished the decoration for St. Patricks day, and it took about two minutes to get them in place. Once you have a base you can purchase any minis you like and she has TONS of options to choose from for every holiday and occasion.

We threw in some green spreaders for good measure, and the napkins provided are also green. Just these little details makes the entire table setting feel rustic and simple with no added tablecloth, just the natural wood grain and a sheer table runner, and then the focus being on the white serveware and fun pops of Nora Fleming to tie in the holiday.

If you’re interested in learning more about Nora Fleming, we are starting an exclusive email list just for updates about her newness and any fun events we’ll be hosting. If you are interested in joining in on the latest news for that, call the store at 574-586-2745 to be added to that email list!

I hope you enjoyed this setting, and maybe even have some inspiration of how to set your own table this coming season! If you try anything new based off of these blogs, please let us know by taking a picture and sharing it to our facebook page so we can see!

As always, happy hosting and happy table setting!
