Mikasa: Table Setting Series

Setting Your Table For Fall
So many of us (me included) look at the newest seasonal items from Williams Sonoma, Magnolia, and Thyme and Table and simply dream about the beautiful settings before us. Wanting to have a beautiful kitchen/ dining table doesn't have to include buying the newest and latest trends, because most of the time that simply isn't reasonable for most people. This series, Mikasa: Table Setting Series is going to highlight each season how you can take this beautiful glossy white bone china set, and dress it up for each season to create something that feels new. The best part about this dinnerware set isn't just the fact that it's classy, but it's also durable and can be used year round as your everyday plates and cups. They're dishwasher safe, and can truly never go out of style with their timeless elegance.
After the initial purchase of the set which is less than $150, you can decide to never put any more money into setting your table, choosing to highlight the Mikasa set alone. Or you can put just a little more towards it for the seasons. By adding placemats and napkins you can make it feel like something completely fresh that fits the vibe you're wanting your dining room to give off.
In the photo featured for October, I took the Mikasa set and added some small orange salt and pepper shakers that are less than $5 each. Alongside those I added the black and white chevron placemats that are so perfect for October and trendy year round with their neutral colors. These are two additions that don't cost much but add so much of the ambiance of October to the table.
Going a little further it includes our gold flatware set, another piece that can be year round everyday use after the initial investment. Gold is all the rage in homes right now, and it's one that I think will be here to stay with it's lovely warm tones. However if gold isn't your style then that's okay! Stick with what you have as long as you love it and it feels like you.
The table setting is completed with a cute little table piece of a gnome sitting on a pumpkin that we carry, but you can really add any statement piece, fall flowers, pumpkins, anything you want. We carry the wine glasses pictured, and they're being held with a wooden wine butler we have in a soft harvest yellow shade that pulls all the colors together.
I hope you found this inspiring, and that having a gorgeous setting for the season can be achieved with the same dishes you use year round, especially ones as versatile as the Mikasa set. I can't wait to share what Novembers table will look like!
Till next time,
Miranda
